Environmental Policy

This Environmental Policy sets out the company’s objectives to maintain operational procedures to protect the environment. The Big Blue Hotel aims to be a responsible operator in protecting the environment. We recognise that our activities interact with the environment and are committed to minimising adverse impacts and improving progress efficiency. In particular this will be achieved through our commitment to:

  • Comply with all applicable environmental legal requirements, and other relevant requirements to which we subscribe.
  • Review the actual and potential environmental impacts of all activities including those affecting our local community.
  • Strive for continual improvement in environmental performance through setting objectives and targets and developing key performance indicators.
  • Employ best practice to prevent pollution, minimise waste, and maximise the efficient use of resources
  • Identify and manage key risks and have arrangements in place to respond to all foreseeable incidents and emergencies
  • Involve employees and contractors in our environmental programmes and provide training to enable them to discharge their responsibilities
  • Engage in dialogue with suppliers and distributors to encourage their participation in environmental best practice

 

Every employee has an individual responsibility to help meet the requirements of this policy. All are invited to contribute ideas for better practice through the hotel’s health and safety committee.

Energy Policy

As a company we recognise we have a responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of our operation. The Big Blue Hotel will work towards reducing costs, minimising CO2 emissions, minimising environmental impact and where possible work towards using energy from sustainable resources.

In particular this will be achieved through our commitment to:

  • Comply with all applicable environmental legal requirements, and other relevant requirements to which we subscribe.
  • Strive to reduce pollution, emissions and waste.
  • Considering life cycle energy costs when procuring new projects.
  • Raising employee awareness through the provision of appropriate training
  • Assist customers to use products and services in an environmentally sensitive way.
  • All aspects of energy wastage are investigated and rectified if avoidable. Employees are made aware of the cost of energy directly under their control to encourage good housekeeping practice.
